Beneath S01E06: The White Tower
The investigators discussed whether they should infiltrate Cymbaline's party at the White Tower, or whether to raid the gathering for illegal artefacts linked to the murders. They decided to do both and have a SWAT team on call just in case.
The group went in disguise. Angus dressed as Albert Featherlake, using fine clothes from his expensive wardrobe. Rufus disguised himself as Angus’s valet, while Alix was disguised as a wealthy tech baron, Jessica Riverspire.
The group mingled with the high, high society guests at the auction. Cymbaline drew Alix's attention, and Cymbaline offered to help Alix with a physical improvement. Alix played along, but didn’t commit.
The group was shown the auction items the members of the secret society were keen to bid on. Among them was Mr. Finch, one of the bidders. The artefacts were:
- A sealskin vest made from a selkie that gave powers of water breathing
- A Jewelled sword
- A Ring of Storm Summoning
- Slipstone
- Elven Boots of Stealth and Speed – of elven Wanwood, cultural relation ? (unclear, but left as is)
- A Scroll of Kings – which could give rulers wisdom
As the rich occultists bid in a silent auction by putting paper slips into the boxes near the artefacts, the lights went off and the SWAT Team crashed in.
And then a struggle broke out!
Mr Finch moved towards the scroll. Alix got to it first and invoked it. She found herself surrounded by ancient kings and queens, who solemnly asked what advice she wanted. Alix asked about the meaning of life, and received a positive, affirming message that inspired her.
Meanwhile, as Mr Hargraves appeared, Angus tackled him and drained him. The SWAT team arrested people for stealing artefacts.
Cymbaline warned the investigators that this wasn’t the last they would see of her.
Kharis took the scroll back to the Underworld and the case was at an end.
Rufus celebrated by going camping, and Angus focused on his gardening hobby. Meanwhile, as Alix spent time with her girlfriend, a sinister, shadowy creature watched them from outside...
