Blueleaf S01E02: Vile Bodies

Stonks chased the wererat into the trees, wounding the creature. Dox fired a pistol, to no effect. The wererat surrendered, and shifted to his human form.

Introducing himself as Vile, the wererat was interrogated by the investigators:

The leader of the wererats was a man called Gulchas Twist. He had been hired by a someone to enter a strange underground temple that had been uncovered by the recent metro excavations.

The excavations had been paused due to a review by the city's historical society. In the occult world, people got excited by old mysterious ruins as they could lead to the discover of powerful relics from the Age of Magic. However, most people wouldn't go to an ancient temple directly: most of them remained cursed or strange in some way.

Gulchas nonetheless had entered the temple, and come out with weird blue flowers growing out of him, that Vile called the Bloom.

Gulchas had gotten so infected, he couldn't hunt and so had killed poor Rufus for food.

Vile didn't know who Gulchas's employers were. Some other members of the subterranean community had tried to meet with them, but had been found dead by the river instead.

Stonks and Dox agreed to meet with Vile in two days time to discuss information.

Stonks went to check out the bridge area where the younger wererats had tried to meet with Gulchas's employers, but they had been found dead and the homeless people in the area couldn't remember things clearly. "They'd been whammied," Stonks told Dox.

Dox learned there was a soiree at the Diamond Club, a gathering of important occultists. Some of them there would know about who had hired Gulchas to enter the forbidden temple uncovered by the metro excavations.

Meanwhile, the pair returned to the Library, only to find that the Bloom had escaped containment and the corrupt fungus grown over Brian Bronzemail's body. The pair reluctantly killed Brian, and Dox called in a clean-up squad.

The two prepared to visit the Diamond Club soiree. Dox dusted off his tux, while Stonks called in favour with the occult service organisation he worked for occasionally, where he'd get a gig as a waiter at the event.
