Blueleaf S01E04: The World Below
Stonks and Dox headed off to investigate the ruined temple beneath the city. They found a mercenary, infected by the Bloom, muttering to himself. They avoided him, then met Vile, the wererat underdweller, who told them that a group of mercenaries had taken control of the temple.
Dox persuaded Vile to help, and the wererats distracted the guards, so that Stonks and Dox could enter the temple. Inside, they were attacked by a man fully infected by the Bloom, who invited them to join him. Dox and Stonks didn't like this offer and fought back.
When all threats were cleared, the investigators examined the centre of the temple. A strange, carved cube stood, its writings clarifying that the purpose of the temple was to seal the Bloom rather than to venerate any gods. Powerful artefacts rested in niches, on each face of the cube.
And yet two were missing, a cup and a bracelet. Dox used his personal relics to temporarily stabilize the cube, sealing out the Bloom's current outbreak, and retreated to the city above. They resolved to find the missing cup and bracelet, as the temporary seal wouldn't last long. Someone had hired the mercenaries to raid the temple and take those artefacts. Who was it?
Dox called their client, advising that they'd dealt with the creature that had murdered her dog. Their case was complete, for now...
