Blueleaf S02E06: Dragon Roads
Dox, Vorx , Astrid and Max the dog tracked down George Stanthorpe, finding an old man in a terrace house by that name. He reminisced about his family heritage of running a boot factory, and eventually mentioned that his ancestor, an earlier George Stanthorpe, had been an occult researcher, who’d investigated Harrington Village, where an outbreak of the Bloom had occurred in the 1920s.
Dox borrowed a bunch of old journals from Stanthorpe, after several hours of listening to stories about the boot factory. Reading some of them, Dox gleaned that George Stanthorpe had believed the Bloom intelligent, and refused to participate in his occult society’s plans to destroy it. He was imprisoned with the bracelet, one of the artefacts that could restrain it, somewhere underground. Intrigued, Dox returned the heavy box of journals to the car, planning to read them in depth later.
While he was doing that, the group saw Ellanora, the changeling that had originally enchanted Max into dog form in the 1960s, forcing him to be a summonable fae hound for various changeling spells. (Also, the changeling that had impersonated Tom Stonebridge!) The investigators chased Ellanora, and found her missing. When they returned to the car, the journals were missing! They’d been set up. The group used Max to track Ellanora through the Ways, a maze of strange fae roads that lead through different dimensions and environments.
They tracked Ellanora to a cold mountainside, where she was sneaking past a sleeping dragon on a pile of treasure. Vorx woke the dragon, which threatened the entire group with incineration. Dox hid hid some treasure on Ellanora when she wasn’t looking and Vorx convinced the dragon that Ellanora was a thief. The dragon threatened Ellanora, who was forced to make a contract with Vorx to survive.
After some haggling, changeling style, Ellanora agreed to restore Max to human form, to return the journals and not be involved further in her patron’s scheme for the bloom. Max, who’d come from the 1960s, was now trapped in the 1990s. The group returned to the detective agency, and plotted what to do next.
