Dox and Stonks discussed their options for dealing with the Bloom. They had both the cup and bracelet, but the path to the ancient temple was covered in extradimensional mold growth and its worshippers. The two discussed options for clearing a path. These were:
talking with the werebeasts to make a bargain with an ocean spirit to flood the temple
using the changeling ‘Ways’ to enter the Bloom area
bargaining with the dragon to burn the Bloom away
However, with Vorx not available, Dox wasn’t comfortable dealing with dragons or weird changeling roads. And Stonks thought that getting werebeasts to assist would have more complications than it was worth.
Instead, Dox called his contact, Lady Eleanor Blackwood, and her elven friend Celeste. Celeste had given him the book of Elvish fairy tales originally, which had provided important clues for learning about the Bloom.
When they met, Dox described his predicament. Lady Blackwood suggested that she loan Dox a relic that would enable him to trick the Bloom’s psychic spoor. And if he was strong enough, he could use it to ‘spoof’ the Bloom long enough for Dox and his companions to reach the temple core. Dox managed to master the relic but was overwhelmed by a sensation of supreme confidence.
Vorx joined them for the descent to the temple. Dox managed to guide the group through the forest. But within the temple, they met Bryan Berg, now controlled by the Bloom hive mind. Bryan tempted the group with the things they wanted most but had trouble with Stonks, whose main wish was for the Bloom to be gone—one less monster in the world to deal with.
Things got violent! Bryan turned into a shifting, fungal monster. While Stonks fought the monster off, Vorx and Dox scrambled to the altar to try and figure out how to seal the Bloom forever. Except Dox wasn’t sure—did the cup go in the left or right niche?
Vorx cast a divination spell, the results of which Dox was forced to abide by. While Stonks furiously battled the Bloom core, Dox completed the ritual. But before they could seal the Bloom, the world shivered and cracked open. Fae magic swamped the area, and then the Breaker of Edifices appeared, now covered in blue-green fungus...
