Zeitgeist S04E03: The Priest and the Plan
The train journey continued, and the Bloodstone Vigil continued to monitor the passengers, trying to determine which ones were the Obscurati members in disguise:
The Griento Family
A group of dog wildfolk from Barchak. Sora had found they were rather dull and did nothing suspicious, so ruled them out.
Verzublack Tantalovich and Bree
The dwarrow cardsharp and gambler. Mickey thought he was suspicious, as Verzublack's gregarious nature and card-playing gave him a good angle to spy on people.
In addition the war veteran, Brianne “Bree” Kaldeckis, had told Mickey she was serving a higher cause. She never seemed to go far from Verzublack, and remained drinking while he was playing cards at the local inns.
Was Bree's higher cause the Obscurati? Except what was the Obscurati's actual cause -- apart from opening up ancient portals and messing with the Precursors' ruins?
Cardiff Hengehill
A dwarrow businessman with a briefcase locked to his wrist. Sora tailed him when the train arrived in Orithea, but found that Cardiff went to his hotel room and tried to practice words of a language, probably belonging to the spiderfolk. She assumed he was a businessman and trader, possibly working for the Empire.
Elanor Yanette
The plump woman in a silken gown who kept her associate close by, bound to her with a chain. Tal’zahr found that Mr. Mapple, the rogue they'd met in Cherage was following her. Mapple explained that Elanor was a slaver who worked for the Golden Syndicate, which catered to the rich and elite. Mapple said he was a servant of a higher power who hated slavery, and was trying to figure out how to bring down Elanor.
Tal’zahr and Robert followed Elanor to an apothecary when she removed the silken wrappings from her captive. It was an elven woman: an eladrin! Elanor was selling her as the last Eladrin to a group of rich elite.
While Tal'zahr wanted to burst into the room and kill the noble elite to free the woman, he recalled that the chain was one of the legendary ones made by House Bloodchain. While the eladrin was bound to Elanor, any attempt to free her or to kill her would mean her death. The group would have to wait until she was sold, and then free her.
Oliver Boone
A charismatic tiefling womaniser and gunslinger. The group was suspicious of him after a young woman last seen with Boon was found murdered in Cherage, the last stop. When they arrived at Orithea, Sora, scouting in owl form, noticed that he was heading into an alleyway with a young woman. Gathering the others, Sora attacked Oliver. His gun shifted into a demon form. More demons appeared and the Vigil defeated Oliver and freed the woman.
The Priest and the Plan
Having dealt with Boone, the group stayed on the train. The next stop would be in Trekholm, where Elanor would sell her eladrin to the highest bidder. The group reviewed the buyers currently on the train and infiltrated the entourage of a priest of the Worldparent. The plan was to magically disguise themselves as him, bid for the eladrin and free her, meaning her chains would be released and Elanor could be killed safely! It only meant infiltrating a group of the most powerful rich, elite and decadent in Trekholm, a trading town ruled by organized crime and wealth.
But before the Vigil arrived, the train guard ran up to them, yelling in a panic. A giant monster was attacking the train!
