Zeitgeist S01E08: The Fires of Industry
Sora, Robert, Bram and Tahl’zair traveled to the Parity Lake district to deal with the fires in the industry district. Mickey stayed behind at HQ to deal with important matters.
Thick smoke and fires billowed everywhere. At Heward Sechim’s Aklahest factory, the investigators saw two dragonborn set explosives on the roof, accompanied by a group of masked saboteurs. The investigators raced up the building to the roof and engaged the saboteurs. Sora and Bram fought the closest group, while Tahl’zair used his leaping powers to close the gap to the two dragonborns, dealing with them.
Meanwhile, Robert did his best to manage the explosion before it went everywhere, and working with the others, reduced the impact. Still, a toxic miasma rolled out over the city. Descending to the street level, the group tried to interrogate the saboteurs. A surge of magic interrupted them, and then a huge construct appeared, rampaging throughout the city. It was accompanied by tiefling researchers, trying to get the monstrosity under control. After a hard fight, where Bram’s healing powers were stretched and Tahl’zair fell unconscious twice, the investigators defeated the construct.
Sora noted that when she touched the golem, it screamed Reladon! Reladon! in her mind, like the spirits of Cauldron Hill.
The investigators interrogated the researchers, who said that this golem was a prototype, and that they had built a bigger one in a lab under Cauldron Hill. But because everything was so well guarded, they didn’t know who was in charge of the project. The researchers said that the golem was empowered by witchoil, a fantastic new power source. However, the others realized that this witchoil was soul-infused waters from the rivers of death, which Gale had warned them about. Could this meddling bring about the end of reality, as Gale had also warned?
